3 days Lake Mburo and rhino tracking takes you through rhino sanctuary which is a private animal sanctuary in Uganda with Southern White Rhinos in the wild, and the sanctuary is the only place in the country where one can observe these endangered creatures in the wild. The sanctuary is collaborative effort between Ziwa Rhino and Wildlife Ranch, who own the land on which the sanctuary sits, and the Uganda Wildlife Authority. The trip then includes driving to Lake Mburo National Park for wildlife and cruises, making your safari the ultimate.
Detailed itinerary of 3 days Lake Mburo and rhino tracking
Day one: pickup and transfer to rhino sanctuary
On Your day 1 of 3 days Lake Mburo and rhino tracking, your safari guide will be waiting for you at the airport or pick you up from the lodge and will head to Ziwa rhino sanctuary which is located in Nakasongola district on the way to Murchison falls national park which is a 3 hours’ drive. In the rhino sanctuary, you will explore the white and black rhinos in this place in good numbers and you will be able to track them. Apart from the Rhinos, enjoy over 40 mammal species like; lions, elephants, leopards, antelopes, crocodiles, hippos, monkeys and 300 bird species like; the rare shoebill stork. Later, you will have an en-route lunch, and later proceed to Lake Mburo National Park where you will check in the booked accommodation for a night and dinner.
Day two: game drive and boat cruise
Early morning, after an early breakfast, on day 2 of 3 days Lake Mburo and rhino tracking,, you will go for a morning game drive in the grasslands of the park where you will experience a lot of wildlife namely; zebras, impalas, buffalos, Oribi, defassa waterbuck, leopard, hippos, reedbuck among others, also spotting over 350 bird species in the park. Later, you will head back to the lodge for lunch and freshen up. In the afternoon, you will have a boat cruise on Lake Mburo which will reward you with wildlife around the shores of the lake, with hippos and crocodiles in the water. However, tourists can choose to go for a night game drive which is very popular in Mburo rewarding you with nocturnal animals which are active at night and it takes 2 hours and under a guide and a ranger which is very satisfying. Later, head back to the lodge for a night and dinner.
Day three: departure
After your morning hot breakfast, you will depart for Kampala with an en-route lunch, then head to the airport for your departure, this will mark the end of your 3 days Lake Mburo and rhino safaris.
