This safari starts in Uganda and ends in Rwanda.  The safari takes you to the southwestern region of Uganda for an adventurous activity of tracking chimpanzees in Kibale Forest National Park at the edge of the Western Rift Valley. This park is not only home to chimpanzees but also other 12 primate species, mammals, and several bird species.   in the chimpanzee habituation activity, stay with chimps for more hours than normal trekking.  from this primate park drive to Uganda’s second largest savanna park Queen Elizabeth National Park, enjoy adventurous game drives where you may luckily sport the big five and enjoy the freshwater boat cruise along the Kazinga channel. On the same trip, cross from Uganda to Rwanda and visit the majestic mountain gorillas in Volcanoes National Park, enjoy the Kigali City tour, and later depart. Detailed Itinerary of 6 days combined Uganda Rwanda safari

Day 1: Travel from Kampala to Kibale  Forest National Park

A driver from Cheap Rwanda Safaris will pick you up from the airport to start your journey to Kibale National Park. You will continue to Fort Portal town via Mubende where you will have lunch. Fort Portal is one of the most beautiful towns in Uganda. if time allows, your guide will stop over at  ‘Amabere ga nyina mwiru caves or the royal tombs in Karambi. As you travel enjoy the stunning beauty of different crater lakes in the Albertine region and the Rwenzori Mountain ranges. On arrival check into the accommodation for dinner and overnight.

 Day 2 :Chimpanzee habituation

Wake up early and ensure that you have a heavy breakfast in preparation for a long day of activity. The key activity will be chimpanzee habituation which starts with a briefing at Kanyanchu, the park’s headquarters.  After briefing you will be allocated to a group of 4 people and with the head of the park guide and armed ranger, you will head into the thick forest jungles. As you trek, expect sight of other primates like L’Hoest monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, vervet monkeys, and other primates. Once you find the chimpanzees, you will be allowed to spend four hours with them as you monitor their behavior, watch them carry out their daily activities, take photos, and record videos.  Since it’s almost a full- day’s activity,  remember to carry enough water and snacks. After the activity,  trek back to the park headquarters to meet your driver who will transfer you back to the accommodation for dinner and overnight.

Day 3:  Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park – Kazinga channel boat cruise

You will wake up for an early morning breakfast, check out of the lodge,  and drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park. The journey takes 3-4 hours, but you can request your driver to drive a less speed as you enjoy the beautiful countryside. On arrival check into the accommodation for lunch. In the afternoon,  the driver will transfer you to the Kazinga channel for a boat cruise. The Kazinga Channel is a water body that joins Lake Albert to Lake George. The boat ride is an interesting activity that will give you close sight of hippos, Nile crocodiles, and many bird species. elephants, waterbucks, and buffaloes can be seen at the shores trying to cool their bodies. After the boat cruise drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Morning game drive and transfer to Volcanoes National Park

You will wake up for an early morning breakfast and meet up with your driver for a morning game drive in the Kasenyi plains in Queen Elizabeth National Park. during the drive expect to see animals like leopards, lions, kobs, waterbucks, antelopes, bush pigs, Impalas, warthogs, elephants, buffaloes, and many birds. After the game drive, return to the lodge for lunch after which, check out and travel to Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda. You will drive along the Kabale-Kisoro Road and enter Rwanda using the Cyanika border. on arrival check into the accommodation for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Gorilla tracking and transfer to Kigali.

Wake up very early and have a quick breakfast as you wait for our guide. You will be taken to the Kinigi Park headquarters for a briefing on gorilla trekking. This briefing takes place at 7:00 am and is designed to share the dos and don’ts of the gorilla trekking excursion. You will be allowed to hire a porter and given a walking stick to support you as you trek. You will begin tracking to the gorilla group along with your porter and park guides. Depending on the location of the gorilla group the activity may take anywhere between 1 hour to 6 hours. Once you see the gorillas, you are allowed to spend one hour in their presence as you watch their behavior towards each other and human presence, take as many photos as you can. Remember to abide by the rules and orders of the game guides.

Once your one hour is done, you will head back to the starting point where you will find our guide waiting to take you back to the lodge for lunch and rest. Later in the day, check out from the accommodation and the guide will drive you to Kigali. On arrival go to the accommodation for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Kigali City tour and departure

Wake up in the blazing lights of Kigali city, after an early morning breakfast, visit some of the important places in Kigali city. for example, the Kigali genocide memorial site, Amahoro stadium, Kimironko market, and any craft center for souvenirs. Have lunch at any of the best eateries in town and transfer to the airport for your flight.
