Day 1: Transfer to Musanze
Your driver guide will pick you up from your hotel in Kigali at 4.30am and transferred to Musanze and the drive is approximately 2 to 3 hours. You will proceed to the park headquarters at Kinigi at 7:00am and upon having your breakfast, you will later head off for hiking which will typically take a full day, from 6 to 8 hours depending on your hiking experience.
During the climb, you will cross a series of different vegetation habitats starting with bamboo forests, moving into Hagenia to Hypericum forest and finally moving through Senecio – Lobelia bush near the summit. You will carry your packed lunch with you and some energy drinks or water as well. You will later return in the afternoon then be transferred to Kigali hotel/ airport to catch up with your flight.
