High season:

June to September:

It’s the best and most unique peak season being the longest dry season and most importantly the best time to see gorillas in Rwanda. Getting to Volcanoes national park to trek is so easy, the hiking trails are free from mud and never slippery. When doing gorilla trekking, there are no chances of rain making the experience more unique and interesting. Mostly in these months, clients are supposed to book before their trekking day. The permits are $1500 at any time in Rwanda being low or high season. Mostly in this peak season, it is when the accommodation and car hire prices are very high. In the dry season, your also required to have sun glasses and sun screens during the hike.

December to February:

This is the shortest dry season being the best time to trek the beautiful endangered mountain gorillas in Rwanda. Mainly in these months is when the park is not over crowded, the trekking trails are easily accessed, creating room for limitless birding opportunities.

Low season:

April to May:

This is majorly the longest rainy season in Rwanda with slightly high chances of rain falling during gorilla trekking in Volcanoes national park. With this time, the gorillas are easily found because they always move away from very high temperatures and descend to lower slopes looking for new shelter and food.  Tourists are advised to wear garden gloves, hiking boots, long trousers, raincoats, sweaters and insect repellents accompanied by energy snacks and porters.

October to November:

While there are months of short rain in Rwanda offering the best photography opportunities, during this time it is also best for birding as plants flower. Waterproof clothing is a must in this season because the equatorial climate is so unpredictable. The wild is so exceptional though when rain falls often at night, the skies become so clear by morning.
