Karamoja Cultural Event 2024 hosted in Kernga District, Karenga District, will be hosting the Karamoja Cultural Event from September 2nd to 7th. Now in its 9th year, this festival celebrates Karamojong culture and attracts communities from Uganda and beyond including the Turkana of Kenya, Nyangatom of Ethiopia, Toposa of South Sudan and international tourists. Last year’s event, hosted by Napak District, saw 35,000 to 40,000 attendees. We expect over 50,000 attendees this year due to the combination of cultural and wildlife tourism.
The 7kM Proximity of Kidepo Valley National Park—CNN’s 2nd ranked most beautiful safari park in Africa from the festival grounds— offers an excellent opportunity for the Karamoja Cultural festival participants to explore wildlife tourism. The festival fosters peace, development, and cultural diversity, featuring dialogue, peace talks, and development assessments, and has evolved into one of East Africa’s premier cultural gatherings.
